Course Overview:
Welcome to the Initial EMT Online Modules Course offered by North American Rescue Training and Education (NAR-T)! This comprehensive EMT training program combines the flexibility of online learning with hands-on skills practice, providing you with the essential knowledge and practical experience needed to excel in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Our course is designed to be completed in as little as 90 days, with a total of 45 lessons and 195.5 hours of education, including skills labs, testing, and clinical rotation, to be completed within one year.
A first of its kind, the EMT Flipped Classroom combines curated content from a variety of market-leading Public Safety Group resources with student-directed activities, including problem-solving exercises, peer-to-peer activities, and student coaching to deliver truly effective and memorable learning experiences.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Fulfill all didactic requirements for NREMT Initial Certification.
- Prepare for the NREMT EMT Basic Exam.
- Access and complete online modules through the NAR Training LMS.
- Schedule your in-person skills day and request a 12-hour ride-along.
- Prepare for and pass the National Registry EMT (NREMT) written and psychomotor exams.
Course Structure:
This course is 100% online, offering flexibility and convenience for busy students.
Online Learning:
- Accessible 24/7 via the NAR Training LMS and NAR Training App.
- Complete online modules at your own pace using your desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablet.
- Includes interactive lessons, study center, assessments, flashcards, and test prep tools.
Flipped Classroom Model:
- Dedicate class time to resolving misconceptions through collaborative problem-solving activities.
- Elevate knowledge into application-level tasks and skills practice.
- Increase engagement and confidence through active learning and hybrid course design.
Engaging Learning Activities:
- Build It: Use different objects and materials to build models relating to lesson topics.
- Trauma Tango: Practice patient assessment steps with correlating dance moves.
- Rap Songs: Create rap songs based on medical terminology or medications and present to the class.
- Goo On You: Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and get squirted with "goo" to show the importance of proper PPE use.
- Challenge Scenario: Act out complex scenarios requiring strong problem-solving skills.
Learning Activities:
- Interactive Modules: Step-by-step guides to help you understand key concepts.
- Video Demonstrations: Visual aids for better comprehension.
- Skills Videos: Review the required skills needed as an EMT.
- Quizzes: Assess your knowledge and verify competency.
Assessment:
To graduate, you must maintain an 80% total course average, pass the midterm and final exams with a 75% or higher, and complete all hands-on skills training.
On-Demand Training:
This course is accessible on your phone, tablet, computer, or the Moodle App, allowing you to complete your learning and earn your EMT certification anywhere, anytime.
Recognition:
NAR Training is recognized by both the Southern Nevada Health District's Department of Emergency Medical Services and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
