EMT Skills Week – North American Rescue Training and Education (NAR-T)

Course Overview
Congratulations on completing the didactic portion of your EMT training! Now it’s time to bring your knowledge to life with hands-on experience during the In-Person EMT Skills Week offered by North American Rescue Training and Education (NAR-T).
This 5-day (Monday-Friday) course is designed to help you master the essential psychomotor skills of an EMT, earn your Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and prepare for the EMT Psychomotor Exam. You’ll also participate in a clinical rotation, gaining real-world experience with a local fire department or EMS agency through North American Rescue.
This course is part of NAR-T’s nationally recognized Initial EMT Training program, and it’s built to help you confidently enter the workforce in Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:

Perform key EMT psychomotor skills with confidence

Complete and earn your BLS certification

Demonstrate medical and trauma assessment proficiency

Pass the EMT Psychomotor Exam

Participate in a clinical ride-along
Requirements to Attend
You must complete the following before attending EMT Skills Week:

100% of your online EMT module course
-
Create your NREMT Application
-
Create your ImageTrend License Account
-
Complete NAR-T Clinical Observation Module
Additional Clinical Requirements
If participating in the NAR-provided clinical ride-along, you must also submit (at least 14 days prior):

Physical exam documentation
-
Proof of MMR, PPD, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus vaccinations
-
Background check (included with tuition)
If you are arranging your own clinical ride-along through your agency, you are exempt from the above compliance documentation.
Course Structure
This course takes place over five days, with each day focused on a key component of EMT training.
Day 1: BLS Certification & Orientation

Complete the American Heart Association BLS Certification

Orientation to the skills lab environment and course expectations
Days 2–3: Hands-On Skills Practice/Clinical Ride-Along

Small group instruction on core EMT skills

Practice trauma and medical assessments
-
Receive real-time instructor feedback to improve performance
Day 4: Hands-On Skills Practice/Clinical Ride-Along

Small group instruction on core EMT skills

Practice trauma and medical assessments

Receive real-time instructor feedback to improve performance
Day 5: EMT Psychomotor Examination

Complete the NREMT Psychomotor Skills Exam

Final skill station testing and instructor evaluations

Upon successful completion, you’ll be ready to sit for the National Registry EMT Cognitive Exam and begin your EMS career with confidence.
