Course Description

Advanced Damage Control Resuscitation and Prehospital Transfusion (ADaPT) is an immersive, three-day in-person course built with the Trauma Hemostasis and Oxygenation Research Network (THOR) to help EMS and prehospital teams deliver blood-forward resuscitation, including EMS blood products and prehospital transfusion care, in real-world field conditions. You will learn the science behind hemorrhagic shock, trauma resuscitation, and Damage Control Resuscitation (DCR), then practice blood administration in EMS through hands-on skills stations and EMS simulation training that includes both trauma and non-trauma patients, including pediatric and geriatric considerations. On Day 3, the course shifts to the systems side of transfusion protocols, covering blood program governance, compliance, and operational readiness, highlighting key AABB and FDA requirements, and how to manage blood programs. This course is ideal for EMTs, AEMTs, Paramedics, critical care/transport clinicians, and operational leaders who want to build, improve, or sustain a high-reliability field transfusion and prehospital blood program.
