      Initial EMT Hybrid Course Eligibility

      Who Is Eligible to Enroll?

      Students enrolling in the Initial EMT Hybrid Course must be at least 18 years old, able to read and write in English, and have proof of high school completion or equivalent education.

      Minimum Enrollment Requirements

      • Be at least 18 years old.
      • Be able to read and write in English.
      • Provide proof of high school completion or equivalent education.

      • DD Form 214

      After your payment and required enrollment documents are received, NAR-T will provide access instructions for your online EMT course modules through the NAR-T learning platform.

      Students complete the online portion of the course at their own pace, including interactive lessons, quizzes, exams, study tools, and course resources. After completing the required online coursework and meeting course requirements, students become eligible to register for In-Person Skills Week.

      The course includes:

      • Self-paced online EMT training
      • Interactive EMT lessons and quizzes
      • Midterm and final exams
      • Hands-on Skills Week
      • Clinical ride-along or observation hours
      • Preparation for the National Registry EMT cognitive exam
      • State-approved EMT skills testing or psychomotor requirements, where applicable

      Important: Successful course completion does not automatically grant EMT certification. Students must complete all required course steps and then follow the applicable National Registry and state EMS certification or licensure process.

      Where are EMT Skills Week and psychomotor skills testing offered?

      EMT Skills Week is offered at NAR-T training locations in:

      • Las Vegas, Nevada
      • Greer, South Carolina

      Skills Week is the required hands-on portion of the Initial EMT Hybrid Course. During Skills Week, students practice and demonstrate core EMT skills under the guidance of experienced instructors.

      During Skills Week, students will:

      • Practice and demonstrate core EMT psychomotor skills
      • Complete patient assessment practice
      • Participate in scenario-based EMS simulations
      • Complete integrated patient care scenarios
      • Receive coaching and remediation when needed
      • Complete final practical evaluations
      • Complete Basic Life Support Provider certification during Skills Week, when required

      Important: Tuition does not include travel, lodging, meals, or transportation. Students are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from the in-person training location.

      How often are EMT Skills Week sessions available?

      Las Vegas, Nevada Skills Week is typically scheduled monthly throughout the year, except December.

      Greer, South Carolina Skills Week is typically scheduled during odd-numbered months throughout the year.

      Important: Students must complete the required online coursework, meet the minimum grade requirements, and satisfy all registration requirements before enrolling in an available EMT Skills Week session.

      What is the ride-along or clinical observation requirement?

      The Initial EMT Hybrid Course includes required clinical ride-along or observation hours.

      NAR-T schedules required clinical ride-alongs and observation hours through our approved training partners. These experiences help students observe real emergency care, patient interaction, EMS operations, and professional expectations in the field or clinical environment.

      Las Vegas Skills Week

      Ride-alongs are completed outside of the 4-day Skills Week. For out-of-town students, ride-along or observation time may be available immediately after Skills Week when scheduling allows.

      Greer, South Carolina Skills Week

      Required ride-along and clinical observation time is scheduled and incorporated into Skills Week.

      Important: Students who currently work for an EMS agency may complete additional ride-along time with their own agency if approved; however, those hours do not count toward required program clinical observation hours unless they are scheduled through NAR-T and an approved training partner.

      What happens after I complete the EMT course?

      After completing the online EMT course, attending Skills Week, completing required clinical ride-along or observation hours, and submitting all required paperwork, students may become eligible for the next steps in the EMT certification process.

      This may include:

      • Scheduling the National Registry EMT cognitive exam
      • Completing any required state-approved EMT skills testing or psychomotor requirements
      • Applying for state EMT certification or licensure
      • Completing any additional state or local EMS agency requirements

      The National Registry EMT cognitive exam is scheduled through Pearson VUE. Testing may be available at an approved testing center or through approved online testing options when available.

      Important: Students seeking EMT certification or licensure outside of Nevada or South Carolina should contact their state EMS office to confirm local certification, licensure, reciprocity, and testing requirements.

      Do you offer payment plans for the EMT course?

      Yes. PayPal payment plan options may be available at checkout, subject to PayPal approval.

      Important: Course access is issued after payment or approved financing is processed and all required enrollment documents are received.

      Are uniforms required for the Initial EMT Hybrid Course?

      NAR-T does not require students to purchase a formal uniform for the Initial EMT Hybrid Course.

      For Skills Week, students may dress casually but must wear closed-toe shoes for safety during hands-on training.

      For the clinical ride-along or observation experience, students must wear:

      • Navy or black pants
      • Navy or black polo shirt
      • Closed-toe shoes

      Important: Steel-toe boots are preferred for field ride-along experiences.

      Is financial aid accepted?

      Important: North American Rescue Education & Training does not currently accept traditional financial aid for the Initial EMT Hybrid Course.

      Students may have access to PayPal payment plan options at checkout, subject to PayPal approval.

      Eligible military students may also be able to use approved military education or credentialing assistance programs.

      What immunizations and documents are required for the EMT ride-along?

      To participate in a NAR-T scheduled clinical ride-along or observation experience, students must complete and submit required health, safety, and compliance documentation.

      Students may begin working on these documents while completing the online EMT course. Required documentation may include:

      • Physical exam dated within the past year
      • Two doses of MMR vaccine or positive Measles, Mumps, and Rubella titers
      • Negative PPD test or negative IGRA blood test, such as QuantiFERON or T-Spot
      • If you have ever had a positive TB test, a negative chest X-ray dated within the last 5 years
      • Hepatitis B vaccine, positive titer, or signed declination
      • Proof of tetanus vaccination within the last 10 years
      • Background check, included in course cost when required
      • BLS CPR certification, completed during Skills Week for EMT students when required

      Important: Additional documentation may be required based on training location, clinical partner requirements, or state EMS requirements.

      Does the Initial EMT Hybrid Course meet the National EMS Education Standards?

      Yes. The Initial EMT Hybrid Course is designed to align with the current National EMS Education Standards for Initial EMT training.

      The course includes the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning areas expected of entry-level EMT education. Students learn foundational EMS knowledge online, then apply that knowledge during hands-on Skills Week through practical skill stations, patient assessment, and scenario-based learning.

      This hybrid format supports preparation for the National Registry EMT cognitive exam, required state-approved EMT skills testing, and entry-level Emergency Medical Services practice.

      Does the Initial EMT Hybrid Course prepare me for the NREMT EMT exam?

      Yes. The course is designed to help students prepare for the National Registry EMT cognitive exam and the broader EMT certification process.

      Students receive structured lessons, quizzes, course exams, study tools, and review resources focused on EMT knowledge, patient assessment, trauma care, medical emergencies, EMS operations, and clinical decision-making.

      Important: Students must still meet all National Registry, state EMS, and local certification or licensure requirements after course completion.

      Does NAR-T accept military assistance through ArmyIgnitED and AF COOL?

      Yes. North American Rescue Education & Training is an approved training vendor for military education and credentialing assistance programs, including ArmyIgnitED and AF COOL, when eligibility and funding requirements are met.

      Eligible service members may be able to use military assistance to support their Initial EMT Hybrid Course enrollment.

      Can I complete the EMT online modules offline?

      Important: The Initial EMT online modules require an internet connection to track your progress, complete quizzes, submit assignments, and record course completion in the NAR-T learning platform.

      Some study resources, such as the electronic textbook or selected downloadable materials, may be available for offline review depending on the app or resource being used. However, official course progress, quizzes, exams, and completion requirements must be completed online.

      How long do I have to complete the Initial EMT Hybrid Course?

      Students have up to one year from the date of enrollment to complete the Initial EMT Hybrid Course.

      The course is self-paced, allowing students to complete the online EMT training modules around work, school, family, and other responsibilities.

      Students who move quickly may be able to complete the program in as little as 90 days, depending on online progress, Skills Week availability, clinical scheduling, and completion of all course requirements.

      How do I register for EMT Skills Week?

      Important: Students may register for EMT Skills Week after completing all required online EMT course modules, maintaining a minimum 80% overall course average, and passing both the Midterm Exam and Final Exam.

      Once these requirements are met, Skills Week registration will open in the course. Students may then select an available In-Person Skills Week session in Las Vegas, Nevada or Greer, South Carolina, based on availability and scheduling requirements.

      Skills Week is the required hands-on portion of the Initial EMT Hybrid Course and includes EMT skills practice, patient assessment, scenario-based training, and final practical evaluations.

      Is the NREMT exam included in my purchase?

      Important: No. The National Registry EMT cognitive exam fee is not included in the Initial EMT Hybrid Course tuition.

      Your course purchase includes online EMT training, course resources, study tools, test preparation materials, and required In-Person Skills Week.

      After successful course completion and verification of eligibility, students are responsible for scheduling and paying for their National Registry EMT cognitive exam through the appropriate testing process.

      I’m a military veteran. Are there discounts or funding options available for the Initial EMT Course?

      Yes. North American Rescue Education & Training offers discount options for active-duty military, reserve service members, and military veterans.

      Eligible students may also be able to use military education or credentialing assistance programs, including AF COOL and ArmyIgnitED, when funding and eligibility requirements are met.

      Yes. NAR-T offers discount options for currently active first responders who are working in EMS, fire, law enforcement, emergency management, military, or other approved public safety roles.

      Is the hands-on EMT Skills Week included in my purchase?

      Yes. The required In-Person EMT Skills Week is included with your Initial EMT Hybrid Course purchase.

      Skills Week includes:

      • Hands-on EMT skills practice
      • Patient assessment practice

      What is the NREMT, and why do I need it?

      The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, commonly called the NREMT or National Registry, is the national EMS certification organization used by many states as part of the EMT certification and licensure process.

      After completing the Initial EMT Hybrid Course, eligible students may apply for the National Registry EMT cognitive exam. Passing the NREMT exam is often one of the required steps toward becoming certified or licensed as an EMT.

      Important: State EMS offices make the final decision on EMT licensure or certification requirements. Students should always check with the state where they plan to work to confirm local EMT requirements.

      How can I check if my state allows reciprocity after completing the EMT course in Nevada or South Carolina?

      Students who plan to seek EMT certification or licensure outside of Nevada or South Carolina should contact their state EMS office before enrolling or before completing the certification process.

      Each state sets its own EMS licensure, certification, and reciprocity requirements. Many states recognize National Registry certification, but reciprocity rules, application steps, fees, background checks, and additional requirements vary by state.

      To check your state’s requirements:

      1. Visit your state EMS office website.
      2. Search for EMT certification, licensure, or reciprocity requirements.
      3. Confirm whether your state accepts EMT education completed in Nevada or South Carolina.
      4. Ask whether National Registry EMT certification is required.
      5. Confirm any additional state-specific testing, application, background check, or documentation requirements.

      Important: Students are responsible for verifying the requirements in the state where they plan to become licensed or certified as an EMT.

      Is there an app I can use with the Initial EMT Hybrid Course?

      Yes. Students enrolled in the Initial EMT Hybrid Course can access their online EMT training modules through the Moodle Workplace app.

      After enrollment, students will receive instructions on how to download the app, log in, and access their EMT online course materials from a phone or tablet.

      Important: The app provides convenient mobile access to course content; however, some activities, quizzes, exams, or required submissions may work best on a desktop or laptop computer.
