      Welcome to the Initial AEMT Hybrid Course offered by North American Rescue Training and Education (NAR-T)! This comprehensive Advanced EMT training program is designed to provide both the flexibility of online learning and the critical hands-on skills needed to excel in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The course is structured to be completed in as little as 90 days, with a total of 241.5 hours of education, including skills labs, testing, and clinical rotations, all of which must be completed within one year.

      Course Objectives

      By the end of this course, you will be able to:

      1. Complete the didactic and practical requirements for Advanced EMT certification.
      2. Prepare for and pass the National Registry AEMT written and psychomotor exams.
      3. Apply advanced EMS skills in real-world scenarios through hands-on practice and clinical rotations.
      4. Meet the educational requirements for state licensure as an Advanced EMT (check local EMS Office requirements).

      Course Structure

      This hybrid course is divided into two main components: online learning and in-person skills training.

      Online Learning:

      • Accessible 24/7 via the NAR Training LMS.
      • Complete online modules at your own pace using your desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablet.
      • Includes 241.5 hours of education, featuring:
        • Downloadable electronic textbook
        • Study center and assessments
        • 10 virtual simulation scenarios
        • Test prep tools for the National Registry cognitive exam

      In-Person Skills Training at either:

      Greer, SC

      • 5-Day hands on skills portion, scheduled every quarter.
        • 3 days classroom hands-on skills practice and scenarios.
        • 1 day of built in for ride-along with local agency scheduled by NART.
        • 1 day of AEMT psychomotor skills testing. 

      Las Vegas, NV

      • 4-Day hands on skills portion, scheduled every even month and July.
        • 3 days classrooms hands-on skills practice and scenarios.
        • 1 day of AEMT psychomotor skills testing.
        • Ride-alongs scheduled by NART, would be an additional 2 days outside of the 4-day skills portion. (could be before or after skills week)

      Prerequisites 

      • Basic Life Saver / CPR Certification. (Must remain active during duration of course)
      • NREMT or State EMT Certification.

      Required Documentation

      Following enrollment into the course, you will need to upload the following documentation:

      • Course Enrollment Agreement
      • Identification (Driver's License, Military ID, Passport)
      • Basic Life Saver / CPR Certification (Must remain active during duration of course)
      • NREMT or State EMT Certification

      Tuition Fee

      The course tuition fee includes:

      • Access to the NAR Training LMS and all course materials
      • Hands-on Skills Week
      • NART-scheduled clinical ride-alongs in Las Vegas, NV or Greer, SC (background check included in course cost)
      • AEMT psychomotor skills test

      Please note that the tuition fee must be paid in full before gaining access to the course. Travel expenses to the NAR Training Centers for Skills Week are not covered. For ride-alongs scheduled by NART, students must submit proof of MMR immunizations, a recent TB test, Hepatitis B immunization or a signed declination, and a physical exam.

      The only requirement for in-person Skills Week sessions is wearing closed-toed shoes.

      Course Completion Requirements

      • Maintain an 80% total course average to graduate from the online portion.
      • Pass the midterm and final exams with a 75% or higher.
      • Complete the online portion 100% before attending the hands-on skills week.
      • Completion of two 12-hour clinical ride-alongs

    • The Initial AEMT Hybrid Course offered by North American Rescue Training and Education (NAR-T) is a comprehensive program designed to prepare you for certification as an Advanced EMT (AEMT). This course combines the flexibility of online learning with essential hands-on training, providing 241.5 hours of education. You'll gain the knowledge and skills needed to excel in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and prepare for the National Registry AEMT exams.

      To enroll in the Initial AEMT Hybrid Course, you must hold a current Basic Life Saver/CPR Certification and be certified as an EMT by the National Registry (NREMT) or your state. Additional prerequisites include uploading a Course Enrollment Agreement, High School Diploma or GED, and valid identification. This course is ideal for EMTs looking to advance their careers in EMS.

      Skills labs and psychomotor testing are offered:

      • During even-numbered months and July at our Las Vegas, NV training center

      • During odd-numbered months at our Greer, SC training center

      Tuition does not include travel, lodging, or transportation expenses. Students are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from the training site for the in-person skills portion of the course.

      Following completion of the online coursework, students attend Skills Week for advanced hands-on training, integrated ALS-level patient care scenarios, and psychomotor competency evaluation.

      During Skills Week, students will:

      • Practice and demonstrate core Advanced EMT psychomotor skills, including advanced airway management, intravenous access, medication administration, and cardiac monitoring

      • Participate in high-fidelity, scenario-based ALS patient care simulations

      • Complete final practical and psychomotor competency evaluations

      Our instructors dedicate this time to advanced skill development, clinical reasoning, remediation when necessary, and ensuring each student demonstrates the competency and confidence required to function as an entry-level Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT).

      The Initial AEMT Hybrid Course is designed to be completed in as little as 90 days, but you have up to one year to finish all requirements, including the online modules, hands-on skills labs, and clinical rotations. If you need additional time or face any challenges, our support team can assist you with your options. The course must be completed within one year from the start date. No extensions are granted 

      Upon successfully completing the course and passing the National Registry AEMT written and psychomotor exams, you will be eligible for NREMT certification as an Advanced EMT (AEMT). The course is designed to meet all educational requirements for certification, and you will receive a Certificate of Completion from NAR-T, which is recognized by relevant health departments and EMS agencies.

      After completing your online course, attending skills week, participating in your ride along, and submitting all required paperwork to the registration manager, your next step is to schedule your National Registry AEMT written exam at a third-party testing facility. To do this, you will need to schedule your exam through the Pearson Vue website at https://home.pearsonvue.com. They have testing facilities worldwide, so you can find a location nearest to you.

      We do not offer payment plans for significant reasons. The course is designed for self-paced distance learning and can be completed in a "boot camp style" in as little as 30 days. Full payment is a prerequisite for accessing the course modules.

      Since we are a distance learning training school, we also do not require students to purchase uniforms, or have any kind of dress code policy for the in-person skills. 

      Currently, North American Rescue Training & Education does not accept financial aid.

      After completing the online training, students must also complete a ride along with our local fire department, ambulance company, or emergency room. You can schedule this through our registration manager. If you are not in the Las Vegas, NV, or Greer, SC, area, you can arrange your ride-along with a similar facility near you. It is your responsibility to contact and schedule with the facility of your choice. You will need to print the provided ride along forms and take them with you on the day, where they will be completed by the supervisor. During the clinical ride-along, students must wear navy or black pants, a navy or black polo, and closed-toe shoes (steel-toe boots are preferable).

      To be eligible for your ride-along scheduled by NAR-T, you must complete and submit the following:  

      • Physical Exam dated within the past year 
      • 2 doses of the MMR vaccine or positive Measles, Mumps, and Rubella titers 
      • Negative PPD test or a negative IGRA (QuantiFERON or T-Spot) 
        • If you have ever had a positive tuberculosis test you must submit a negative chest x-ray dated within the last 5 years. 
      • Hepatitis B Vaccine, positive titer or signed declination  
      • Proof of Tetanus Vaccination within the last 10 years 
      • Submission of a Background Check (included in course cost)  
      • BLS CPR Certification (EMT students will complete this on the first day of Skills Week)  

      The Initial EMT Hybrid Course offered by North American Rescue Training and Education (NAR-T) is fully aligned with the most recent National Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Educational Standards for Initial EMT training. Our course is designed to ensure that you receive comprehensive education that meets or exceeds the national standards required for EMT certification.

      This course covers all the necessary cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains as outlined in the National EMS Educational Standards, preparing you for both the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exams and real-world emergency medical services (EMS) situations. The hybrid format combines the flexibility of online learning with the critical hands-on skills training needed to meet the rigorous demands of the EMS profession.

      As a distance learning training school, North American Rescue Training and Education (NAR-T) does not require students to purchase uniforms for the Initial EMT Hybrid Course. However, there are specific dress code guidelines for the in-person components of the course:

      • Skills Week: The dress code is casual, but you must wear closed-toe shoes to ensure safety during hands-on training exercises.

      • Clinical Ride-Along: During the clinical ride-along portion, students are required to wear navy or black pants, a navy or black polo shirt, and closed-toe shoes. Steel-toe boots are preferred for added protection during your field experience.

      Yes, North American Rescue Training and Education (NAR-T) is an approved training vendor for both the ARMY IGNITE and AF COOL programs. Our Initial EMT Hybrid Course qualifies for military assistance, making it easier for service members to pursue their Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) training and certification.

      The ARMY IGNITE program provides financial assistance to active duty, National Guard, and Reserve Soldiers, while the AF COOL (Air Force Credentialing Opportunities On-Line) program offers similar support to active duty and reserve members of the Air Force.
